Coaches from the Cabot and Greenbrier youth football programs have been banned after a fight at a game, according to KARK. Two sets of grown adults, one youth football game, and a suspension list nobody wanted to be on.

What we know, per KARK:

  • Coaches from both the Cabot and Greenbrier youth football programs are now banned.
  • The bans follow a fight that broke out at a game between the two.
  • Both communities are in central Arkansas.

The coaches are the ones getting benched here, which is the exact opposite of how this is supposed to work. Youth football is built on adults modeling composure for kids who are still figuring out how to handle a bad call, a hard hit, or a loss. Banning coaches from both sides is the league equivalent of sending everyone to their rooms.

Youth sports organizations typically hold coaches to conduct standards, and a ban is among the strongest tools a league has to enforce them. Coaches are volunteers in most rec programs, so losing them also means somebody has to find replacements fast.

For parents, the group chat question is simple: if the adults on the sideline can't keep it together, what hope does the guy in the third row with the foam finger have?
