·3 min read·Source: FOX 26 Houston·Sugar Land, TX

Two parents are charged with assault, one has resigned from her school job, and a national sanctioning body is promising lifetime bans after a brawl at a 12U softball game in Sugar Land, Texas. The fight, caught on video, left one spectator hospitalized with serious head injuries.

According to FOX 26 Houston, the altercation broke out Saturday evening at Imperial Park during a United States Fastpitch Association (USFA) tournament.

The key facts

  • The charges: Kiarious Hall faces two counts of assault. His wife, Jazmine Hall, faces one count. Both have bonded out, per the Fort Bend County District Attorney's Office.
  • The job fallout: Jazmine Hall was an assistant principal at Lamar Junior High School when she was arrested. Lamar CISD officials confirmed she resigned earlier this week.
  • The league response: USFA condemned the violence and said anyone found to have taken part in the fight will be banned from its events for life.
  • The injuries: Police say one man was taken to St. Luke's Hospital with a head injury. His attorney, Steve Shellist, says he has a skull fracture, a fractured cheekbone, three brain bleeds, and a blood clot. Another man, Gary Greaser, had lacerations to his forehead, chin, arms, and knees, according to court documents.
  • The court date: Both Halls are due back for arraignment on February 5, 2027.

What the charging documents say

Police reviewed bystander video and described three men arguing before Kiarious Hall swung a metal water bottle into one man's face. That man dropped to the ground unconscious. Investigators noted the video angle doesn't show whether Hall was touched first.

Court documents say Hall swung the bottle again and a struggle with Greaser followed. Jazmine Hall can be seen running in and throwing punches before bystanders pulled everyone apart.

Per the probable cause affidavits, Kiarious Hall told officers he was cheering for his daughter when a dispute over sideline noise started. He said he acted in self-defense after being poked and elbowed. Shellist rejects that version, saying his client never touched Hall and was trying to calm things down.

What happens next

Sugar Land Police still have primary jurisdiction and are continuing to investigate. When the case file is finished, it goes to the Fort Bend County DA's Office, which will decide whether to stay with the current misdemeanor charges or upgrade to felonies.

The charges are allegations, and the case is still moving through the system.
